About

West Australian painter Mark Tweedie has been an exhibiting artist since 2012. His work is characterised by themes of memory, connection to place, and lineage. Photography underlies his painting practice, paying homage to the medium’s emotive aesthetics whilst recontextualising archival imagery to create new narratives. Mark has undertaken significant residencies throughout regional Australia that continue to shape his work, motivated by his childhood in the Gascoyne and Pilbara regions.

Mark exhibits with Jan Murphy Gallery and has been a finalist in prominent national art prizes including the Darling Portrait Prize, the Kilgour Prize and the Blake Prize.
